Every Story Connects & Gives Back

Every Bug & Bear book is part of a bigger story.
Some connect in wild ways. Some spark brand-new ideas.
All are powered by imagination—and right now, during the Painting Grace launch, they’re connecting to something even bigger: our Story Shapers’ communities.

Through September 5th, 75% of ALL Painting Grace royalties go straight to the schools selected by our Story Shapers.

So explore the series. Find your family’s next favorite.
And know that every story you buy helps shape the next one—and supports a local cause along the way.

Presenting

Book One: Becoming Bug

The story of a boy who crawled into the dirt… and came out a bug.

Billy doesn’t care about birds. Or fawns. Or big blue skies.

He’s got his eyes on the forest floor where the real wild things live.

And the real magic?  His mom sees him and meets him right there.

Join us in the the Bug & Bear origin story centered in authenticy and acceptance.  A celebration of knowing exactly who you are and challenging each other be the best version of themself.

Behind the Story

This is where Bug & Bear started to find their identity, and where I started to uncover mine.
When I started writing Bug & Bear, it was little more than a celebration of my kids’ nicknames.  Names that had evolved over the years, through moments I’d been present for and some that I’d missed.

It was a passion project. A love letter to two kids I’ve loved watching grow and who grow the best when I get out of their way.

When it was finished, I realized that it was more than just a picture book.  It was a celebration of allowing.
A celebration of what children uncover when we allow them to follow their own path, rather than pulling them along ours.
A celebration of play that turns into discovery and that shapes identity.
A celebration about leaning into what you love so much it creates you and a new world you could not have imagined
