Welcome to Co-Authored—a blog about stories that belong to everyone.

Stories have always been shaped by those who tell them. But what if storytelling wasn’t just for authors, publishers, or big media companies? What if you—as a parent, educator, or reader—could help shape the stories your kids grow up with?

That’s the heart of Participatory Publishing—a movement that reimagines books as something we create together.

Co-Authored is where we talk about the power of storytelling. Here, you’ll find:

✔️ Behind-the-scenes insights into writing, publishing, and co-creating books.

✔️ Big conversations about kids’ media, creativity, and the future of storytelling.

✔️ Ways to get involved—contests, discussions, and opportunities to help shape books.

Because stories are not just something we consume.
They’re something we create.

Join the conversation. Help shape the stories. Let’s build this together.

Participatory Publishing isn't just about inviting kids into the creative process—it's about realizing we're already co-authoring life together. This post reflects on freedom, authorship, and how creating space for others allows us to become more fully ourselves.
When a school sent in 21 hand-drawn illustrations for our Women’s Suffrage Sketch-Off, my inbox—and my heart—overflowed. This post is a behind-the-scenes look at how one school, a group of young heroes, and a spark of an idea turned into a powerful reminder of why Participatory Publishing matters. In a world where kids are so often left out of the storytelling process, this is what happens when we hand them the pen—and they run with it.
What do archery, women's suffrage, and a race between a snail and a turtle have in common? More than you’d think! In this reflection on Participatory Publishing, I explore how life mirrors art—and how the stories we shape are a collective effort. From archery-inspired wisdom to questions about who gets to shape the narratives we live by, this post dives into the power of community, creativity, and unexpected connections.
The time to write our story isn’t someday—it’s now. As systems shift and promises crumble, we can cling to the old or co-create something new. Discover why Participatory Publishing is the future of storytelling—and how we can shape stories and worlds together.
One month ago, I took a leap—leaving my career as a trial lawyer to build something bold: a publishing model where readers, parents, and kids co-create books together. In just four weeks, we’ve launched new books, completed creativity contests, and started writing our first fully co-authored book. But beyond these milestones, the world is proving why participatory publishing matters now more than ever. Join me as I reflect on this journey, the lessons learned, and how we can reshape storytelling together.
